Basic science J.S.S.2 Second Term
WEEK 10
Types of energy 3
Performance Objectives
The student should be able to:
- Differentiate between evaporation and boiling.
- State the factors affecting evaporation
Content
Difference between evaporation and boiling
- Evaporation lowers kinetic energy of molecules while boiling increases the kinetic energy of molecules.
- Evaporation does not need heat to take place while boiling needs heat to take place.
- Evaporation can take place at any temperature while boiling can take place at finite temperature.
Factors affecting evaporation
- Evaporation is the process by which water changes from a liquid to a gas or vapour.
