Components of culture
Culture has many components and they are grouped into two: Material and non-material components.
1.Materials component or culture: This is the aspect of culture that includes all the things we see, feel and touch. Material culture consists mainly of the products of man's industry or art which he has learned to make and use to satisfy certain needs in his society. Examples bridges, plates, chairs, hoes, cutlasses, clothes, baskets, bows and arrows, pots etc.
2. Non-material components or culture: This is the aspect of culture that we cannot see, touch or feels but have learned as part of the way we live. Examples are religion, language, morals and values, and the whole body of knowledge including technology learned and passed from one generation to another. Other aspects of non-material culture are a people's music, folklore, literature, manner of dancing, manner of thinking and way of dressing.
