Content
Economic reform programmes may be defined as the government’s conscious formation of economic policies and programmes aimed at strengthening the performance of the various sectors of the economy. Examples of some of the reform programmes are the consolidation of financial institutions, privatization, commercialization, indigenization, nationalization and deregulation.
Consolidation of Financial Institutions
This refers to one of the economic reforms programme initiated by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The programme was outlined at ensuring that the financial institutions like banks have a strong financial base to support the real sector of the economy.
