Students should be able to:
1. Explain the meaning, causes of STIs Sexually Transmitted Infections.
2. Describe the signs and prevention of STIs.
CONTENT
Sexually transmitted infections STIs otherwise known as Sexually transmitted diseases STDs are those infections gotten during sexual intercourse with an infected person. They are infections you can get by having sex with someone who has an infection. These infections are usually passed from person to person through vaginal intercourse. They can also be passed through anal sex, oral sex, or skin-to-skin contact. STIs can be caused by viruses or bacteria. STIs caused by viruses include hepatitis B, herpes, HIV, and the human papillomavirus (HPV). STIs caused by bacteria include chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and syphilis.
