The memory unit is divided into two:
(a) Random Access Memory (RAM)
(b) Read Only Memory (ROM)
Random Access Memory (RAM) is a volatile memory. It is used to store data temporarily in case of power failure, if not, all information on it will be lost.
Read Only Memory (ROM) is usually non-volatile memory because it will not lose its content in case of power failure. They are designed to store information permanently.
