Topic: Government Main services

Objectives: At the end of the lessons, the pupils should be able to:

1. Mention some social amenities/infrastructures.

2. List some of the main services provided to the people.

CONTENT OF THE TOPIC

Consequences of poor services

1 Lack of trust. The citizens will be dissatisfied and will not trust the government any more.

2 High costs of living. Private individuals would provide some of those services, and charge high rates on them. A good example is electricity. Many people now buy generators and petrol to provide electricity at home and in the factories.

3 An ineffective workforce. If teachers, for instance, are not paid, they will find it difficult to teach. Also, if the police are unpaid, they will not be willing to protect the people.
