WEEK 10

Types of energy 3

Performance Objectives

The student should be able to:

  1. Differentiate between evaporation and boiling.
  2. State the factors affecting evaporation

Content

Difference between evaporation and boiling

  1. Evaporation lowers kinetic energy of molecules while boiling increases the kinetic energy of molecules.
  2. Evaporation does not need heat to take place while boiling needs heat to take place.
  3. Evaporation can take place at any temperature while boiling can take place at finite temperature.

Factors affecting evaporation

  • Evaporation is the process by which water changes from a liquid to a gas or vapour.
