The Annunciation (Isaiah 9:6-7, Mattew 1:22, Luke 1:2-35)
Before the birth of Jesus Christ, it has been prophesized in the old testament by prophet Isaiah who already proclaimed that JesusChrist will be born, who would be a saviour, counsellor, everlasting father, prince of peace, ruler of the universe and whose reign has no end.
Also, after this, in the new testament, there was testimony in Matthew, which was trying to acknowledge what has been said by prophet Isaiah, it was said that a virgin shall be with a child and bring forth a son and his name shall be called Emmanuel which means “God with us”. After this, the book of Luke, an angel appeared to Mary (Angel Gabriel) and told her that she will conceive and bring forth a son and shall call his name JESUS. During this time Mary was a virgin who knew no man yet, but God made it happened and Mary conceived and gave birth to Jesus Christ.
The Birth of Jesus Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 2:1-7
After Mary conceived Jesus, joseph who was supposed to marry Mary discovered that she was pregnant, Joseph thought she was unfaithful to him not knowing she was with child of the holy ghost, joseph decided not to marry her again and quietly called off the marriage without embarrassing her publicly, but while he was thinking about it the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream saying “Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her, is of the holy ghost and she will bear a son and then shall save his people from their sin”.
When Joseph woke up from his dream, he obeyed the angel and married Mary, but before Jesus was born, a decree came out from the Roman Emperor “Caesar Augustus” that there should be a census of everyone in their birthplace, this made joseph and Mary travel from Galilee to Nazareth to Judea in Bethlehem to be counted. It was while they were there the time for Mary to be delivered approached, but there was no place for her to deliver her baby, she had to go into a manger where animals are kept, that was where she had baby Jesus and the glory of the Lord came upon them.
