Definition of Agriculture

Agriculture is the art and science of growing plants and other crops and raising animals for food, other human needs, or economic gain.

Agriculture is one of the most important sectors of the economy of many West Africa countries. Representing approximately 35 per cent of the region’s GDP and 60 per cent of the active labour force, the agriculture sector is committed to achieving food security and broad-based economic growth in West Africa.
