1. Newcastle disease (NCD): This is a very common disease among poultry birds in Nigeria. It attacks all categories of poultry birds i.e the young and the old are all susceptible.

Causal organism: Virus

Symptoms: Sneezing, coughing, nasal discharge, difficult breathing, lack of appetite, watery greenish diarrhoea, paralysis of the legs or wings and laying of soft-shelled eggs.

Mode of transmission: Contact with faeces of infected birds, nasal discharge and materials contaminated by the virus.
