Meaning of farm records
Farm records are simply the records of all the activities that take place on the farm within a period say a farming season or year. It can also be defined as all written documents showing major activities going on in the farming business.
Uses of farm records
Farm records are important to the farmer for the following reasons.
1. They provide a history of all activities going on in the farm.
2. They help the farmer to determine the strength and weakness of his farming method.
3. They assist the revenue board (tax office) to assess the farmer accurately.
4. They provide the farmer with figures for planning and budgeting.
5. Farm records help the farmer to obtain loans easily.
6. They provide relevant information when the farm is handed over to a new farm manager or sold to a new owner.
7. Good record keeping will enable the farmer to know whether he is progressing or not. That is, if he making gains or losses.
8. They help the farmer in taking proper management decision.
