Meaning of Secondary Sources of History
Secondary sources of history can be defined as all accounts of history that do not come directly from original or primary sources.
A secondary source can be defined as a document which explains and discusses original information.
For instance, if a journalist visits a village to get their history directly from the traditional rulers, his publication of the information in a book, newspaper, or journal, becomes a secondary source of history of the village particularly to those reading the book or newspaper.
Characteristics of Secondary Sources of History
1. They are non-first-hand means and ways of sourcing historical facts.
2. They are historical information that has been processed from primary sources. They supply information about primary sources.
