Meaning of prayer

Prayer is an act of communicating with God. It expresses praise, thanksgiving, confession and request. Jesus prayed on several occasions for the following reasons

1. To show an example of how to pray to his disciples and followers.
2. He prayed to honour God and glorify him.
3. He also prayed to receive power.
4. Jesus prayed that God’s will be done on earth as it is done in heaven

Content of Jesus’ prayer

Jesus prayer usually contained the following:

1. Adoration: he usually adored and worshipped God, his father.
2. Request: he always asked God what he wanted God to do for him.
