Meaning of drug and drug abuse

A Drug is a chemical substance used in the treatment, cure, and diagnosis of a disease or to otherwise enhance physical or mental wellbeing.

Drug abuse is the misuse of illegal drugs or the misuse of prescription over or over the counter drug for at least a year with negative consequences. Drug abuse is the habitual use of a drug to alter one’s mood, emotion, or state of consciousness.
