DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MAJOR AND MINOR SCALES

1. In all major scales, semitones occur between the 3rd and 4th, 7th and 8th degrees. In minor scales, semitones occur between the 2nd and 3rd, 4th and 5th, and 7th and 8th degrees.
2. In major scales, the 1st degree of note is the tonic (doh) while in minor scales like the ‘A’ harmonic minor scale, the first degree of note is the submediant (lah)
3. The minor scale comprises fifteen notes ascending and descending while the major scale comprises eight notes ascending.
