INVALIDS AND CONVALESCENT
An invalid is one who is sick, while a convalescent is one who is no longer sick but is in the process of gradual recovery after illness. The 2 groups of people may suffer
- A breakdown of some body tissues and loss of weight through infection.
- Loss of appetite, weakness and shortage of specific nutrients in the body.
The nutritional needs of invalids and convalescents depend on the kind of illness they are suffering from or have suffered.
In planning meals for an invalid one has to consider the nature of the illness so as to plan on time, usually, meals prepared for a sick…
