Definition

Kitchen equipment can be defined as materials which are used for the preparation, cooking serving and preservation of foods.

Kitchen equipment is classified into three groups they are;

1.       Large equipment: These are materials which are fixed permanently in the kitchen, they have usually not moved around easily.

Examples are refrigerators, cookers, sinks, working surfaces, cupboards and shelves etc.

Mechanical equipment

Mechanical equipment is those materials which are mechanically operated they are as well referred to as labour-saving devices examples are: electric toasters, blenders, mixers, dishwashers etc.
