CONTENT
COCOA DRINKS
Cocoa beans are seeds obtained from the cocoa tree. When ripe the beans are fermented and dried. beans can be used for the production of different beverages.
Preparation of Cocoa drinks. These are usually prepared by dissolving the desired quantity in a cup. The
addition of sugar and milk is optional.
TEA
Tea is produced from the leaves of the shrub Tea senensis.
Tea contains
1. A stimulant
2. A volatile oil which gives it its flavour.
3. Tannin
Preparation
All the utensils used must be clean. Preheat the teapot by pouring boiling water into it for some time and then pouring it out. Put the tea bag into the hot teapot and pour boiling water over it. Infuse for about five minutes. Pour out at once after infusion, the addition of milk and sugar is optional.

Coffee seeds are obtained from mature plants whose seeds known as coffee beans are roasted and milled.
Coffee contains
1. Stimulant is known as caffeine.
2. Volatile oil which gives it a particular flavour.
3. Tannin – This is responsible for the astringent flavour.
Preparation of coffee
Heat the coffee pot with boiling water. When thoroughly hot, pour out the water and put in the coffee.
One tablespoon of coffee to each pint of water. Bring the water to a boil and immediately pour it
over the coffee in the pot and leave it in a warm place for 5 minutes strain before serving. Coffee can be
served with or without sugar and milk.
