Standard units of weight
We need to use standard units to measure weight.
The kilogram (kg) is used as a unit when weighing heavy objects like
bags of rice, bags of cement, etc.
The gram (g) is used when weighing lighter objects like pencils, rulers, etc.

Examples
2 kg = 1000 g + 1000 g = 2000 g
1/2kg = 1000 g ÷ 2 g = 500 g
2000 g = 2000 g ÷ 1000 g = 2 kg
