TOPIC: HOW TO ACCESS SOURCES OF HISTORY

Excursions: Excursions are deliberate  Visits to a place of importance for knowledge. Through excursion, students of History have the opportunity to see for themselves directly what they have been taught in class, read in books, watched on television, the internet or told as stories by elders, etc.

Among historical sites normally visited by students in Nigeria are Olumo Rock in Abeokuta, Point of No Return in Badagry, Old Oyo National Park, The First Storey Building in Nigeria at Badagry, National Museums and so on.

Importance of Excursion

1. It provides firsthand information.

2. It registers the event in the minds of students.
