TOPIC: CONSEQUENCES OF THE FALL OF THE GHANA EMPIRE

It is assumed that the ensuing war pushed Ghana over the edge, ending the kingdom’s position as a commercial and military power by 1100. It collapsed into tribal groups and chieftaincies, some of which later assimilated into the Almoravids, while others founded the Mali Empire. Despite ambiguous evidence, it is clear that Ghana was incorporated into the Mali Empire around 1240.

1. There was one war after another, so Ghana couldn’t recover.
2. Trade declined after the gold mining decreased, so there was no income coming in.
3. Many competitors in the gold mining trade industry were trying to overtake Ghana in wealth and power.
4. There were environmental issues, such as a drought and the animals starving from it. So food sources dwindled.
