The earth in space
The solar system consists of the sun, and its nine planets, the earth is the planet we live in. It is the third planet from the sun. The earth rotates about its axis. its rotation is once every 24 hours (one day) and its revolution around the sun takes 365 days. Its rotation on its axis is responsible for day and night whereas its revolution around the sun is responsible for seasonal variation, i.e., the seasons e.g. harmattan, rainy.
