Content

A. Definition of the nature of God

God is defined as the supreme being of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, creator and ruler of the universe. He is the uncreated spirit being who existed before the beginning of time.

God is the Trinity that is; God the Father (God is God), God the Son (God is Jesus), God the Holy Spirit (God is Holy Spirit). God is everything.

B. Attributes of God

Attributes are characteristics, values or qualities a person or thing possesses.

Therefore, the attributes of God are;

1. God is infinite – he is self-existing, without origin.

2. God is self-sufficient – he has no needs.

3. God is Omnipotent – he is all-powerful.

4. God is Omniscient – he is all-knowing.

5. God is Omnipresent – he is always everywhere

C. Meaning of God in different Nigeria languages.

English – GOD

Yoruba – Olodumare means God the Supreme Being

Igbo – Chineke, Chukwu means He who know all things

Hausa – Allah, Ubangiji means Supreme Being.
