Bodies that Can Assess the Capital Market

1. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC): This is the apex regulatory body for Nigerias capital market which operates under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Finance. Securities and Exchange Commission was established in 1979 and has the following functions:

i. Valuation of shares

ii. Registration of Market operators

iii. Approval of shares allotment

iv. Registration of Securities

v. Enforcement of sanctions against erring operators
