Content

Meaning of disciple

A disciple is a follower of Christ, he is a person who learns from another person and in turn, teaches others what he has learnt.

A disciple is an imitator of Jesus who wants to be like Jesus in doings and ways.

Jesus calls his four disciples (Matthew 4:18-22, Mark 1:14-20, Luke 5:1-11, John 1:35-51)

Jesus went into Galilee preaching the good news, as they walked beside the sea of Galilee, He saw Simeon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen, he called unto them and said: “come, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men”. At once, they left their net and followed him. When Jesus went a little farther, he saw James, son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets, immediately he called them, they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.

These were his first four disciples; Simeon, Andrew, James, and John.

 

Moral Lesson: Irrespective of our situation, or anywhere we find ourselves, the call or obedience to Christ is the most important.
