The coming of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:21-13)

Ten days after Jesus had ascended to heaven, the disciples gathered together in one room praying and then the Holy Spirit came on them as Jesus had said. It was on the Jewish feast day of Pentecost. They heard a noise from the sky like a strong blowing wind. Then they saw something that looked like flames of fire that separated and stood over each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Holy Spirit gave them the power to speak.

Jews from all over the world were in the city of Jerusalem at that time. When people heard the disciples, a large crowd came together and every person heard the disciples praising God in their own language. The disciples were surprised that each person could hear in the language he was born in. So, they started asking, "What is happening?" But other people were making fun of the disciples and saying they were drunk.

Significance of the Holy Spirit

1. The presence of the Holy Spirit creates awareness that man cannot go far with God without the power of the Holy Spirit.

2. Holy Spirit becomes the source of all provision to any man who wants to walk with God.

3. The Holy Spirit is the deliverer of man in this wicked world

4. The Holy Spirit is the facilitator of evangelism, the spread of the message of God.

5. The Holy Spirit is the one that propels man to thirst and hunger after God.
