Sources of history imply the means or ways through which past events are known or discovered.

There are three major sources. These are:

1. Primary sources

2. Secondary sources

3. Tertiary sources

In this chapter, we shall focus on primary sources.

Definition of Primary Sources

Primary sources can be defined as first-hand information and accounts of a topic. These are directly gotten from the actual or real event or people involved. They are more reliable and more accurate. It can also be defined as the original account of an event obtained directly from the people involved.

Examples of Primary Sources of History

Primary sources of History include the following:
