Content

The cell is defined as the structural and functional unit of a living organism i.e. the simplest, the smallest and basic unit of life. Cells make up the smallest level of a living organism (both plants and animals). The cellular level of an organism is where the metabolic processes occur that keep the organism alive and thus the cell is called the fundamental unit of life.
