Content

Ecology is defined as the study of plants and animals about their environment. Ecology is a field which deals with the relationship of living organisms with one another and with the environment in which they live. Ecology is also described as environmental biology.

Components of an Ecosystem

The ecosystem is made up of two main components. These are biotic (living) components and the abiotic (non-living) components.

The biotic components include the living things (plants and animals) which can be grouped into producers, consumers and decomposers.
