Meaning of Constitution

A Constitution refers to the basic principles and laws of a nation or State that determine the powers and duties of the government and also provides the platform or base for determining the fundamental rights and duties of the people.

It is also a body of fundamental principles or established precedents according to which a state or other organization is acknowledged to be governed.

Various Colonial Nigerian Constitution

Before Nigeria earn her independence, there are series of the constitution used to govern Nigeria as a country, they are as follows:

1. Clifford constitution 1922

2. Richard Constitution 1946

3. Macpherson Constitution 1951

4. Lyttelton Constitution 1954
