Breeding

This is the mating of two animals (male and female) which have been selected to produce offspring with desirable qualities. There are four major types of breeding which include:

I. In-breeding: This is a method in which more closely related animals are made to mate with one another to retain certain desirable characteristics. For example either mating sister or parent mating offspring. It occurs with a small proportion.

Advantages of in-breeding

1. It is used to preserve and concentrate specific qualities in an animal.
