General objectives of social studies include:

1. To develop the ability to adapt to a changing environment. This means that social studies make individuals aware of their environment.
2. To inculcate national consciousness and national unity in students/citizen.
3. To make students become good citizens- who are capable and willing to develop society.
4. To inculcate in students the right types of values and attitude of cooperation and togetherness towards a healthy society.
5. To promote understanding among students both nationally and globally.
6. It helps individuals to develop the right attitude towards the leaders in government.
