Performance objectives:

  1. List and explain ways of preventing drug trafficking.

Content

Prevention of drug trafficking

1. Equip law enforcement agencies: The Police, Immigration and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) must be well equipped to tackle drug trafficking.

2. Vigilance on our border:  There should be strict vigilance at our entry ports e.g. airports, seaports etc. by trained people to detect and reduce hidden drugs and drug trafficking.

3. Server penalty for the offender: Arrested drug traffickers must be adequately punished to discourage others.

4. Employment: Youths must be provided with employment in order to eradicate poverty, earn a living for themselves and improve the standard of living.

5. Education: citizens must be educated on the evil of drug trafficking through an intensive media campaign to expose the evil effects of drug addiction and the need for people to stay away from drugs.

6. National cooperation: developed and developing countries must cooperate with one another to wage war against drug trafficking.
