- Recall the types of people who make up the extended family and their roles in children development.
Content
Members of the extended family
The extended family consists of father, mother, children, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and grandparents.
It may involve two or more families living together as one family.
Roles of extended family members in children development
1. Acts as agents of socialization: The family is the first social group of any child as parents are the first teachers for children. What the child learns at home is how he will relate and behave with others outside the home.
