The following are effects of weed control methods on vegetation and soil.

1. Pollution of the soil and groundwater resulting from the use of herbicides to kill weeds.

2. Contamination of livestock and pasture by chemicals.

3. The insects introduced into the farm to feed on weeds may, in turn, become a pest of crops.

4. The insects introduced may be carriers of disease organisms that will, in turn, destroy crops.

5. Fire outbreaks may destroy many farmlands and even farmstead.
