Uses of Weeds

1. Weeds are used for mulching when dried.

2. Some weeds like carpet grass and Bahama grass can be used to control erosion.

3. Some weeds like guinea grass are used for feeding livestock.

4. Weeds like waterleaf are eaten by man as a vegetable.

5. The decomposition of weeds can add organic matter to the soil.

6. Weeds like Siam weed (Awolowo grass) are used for medicinal purposes.

7. Weeds enhance penetration of air and water into the soil when their roots for and leave empty spaces in the soil.
