TOPIC: The Ife Culture and Tradition

The Ife People

The people of Ife are Yoruba and are believed to be the descendants of Oduduwa. The Ife people are the earliest known Yoruba in the world from where the other Yoruba sub-groups migrated. Ife people are ancient, originally spiritual, and highly advanced artists and agriculturalists.

Occupational Activities

Most Ife people were farmers, traders and artisans. The copper and brass/bronze work was done by the lost-wax method of smithing. They also engaged in wood carving and blacksmithing.
