Igbo-Ukwu is an ancient Igbo town located in Agwuata Local Government Area of Anambra State in the southeastern part of Nigeria. It is located near the modern town of Onitsha.

An ancient civilization of the Igbo flourished in the Igbo-Ukwu area in the 9th century. Igbo-Ukwu culture refers to the culture of an Igbo group that was brought to reckoning by the archaeological discoveries of ancient remains excavated in Igbo-Ukwu. The objects were made mainly of bronze material discovered accidentally in 1938 while digging a toilet pit. The discovery led to the excavation of sites at Igboukwu by archaeologists.
