Student should be able to explain:

   i. Simple majority.

   ii. Absolute majority.

   iii. Proportional representation.

   iv. Direct and indirect system

 

Simple Majority

This is a voting requirement of more than half of all ballots cast.

Advantages of Simple Majority

1. It is useful in developing countries.

2. It provides a clear-cut option or alternative for voters                                   

    between two main parties

3. The system declares the party that wins the majority                           

     number of seats as the winner of the election

Disadvantages of Simple Majority

1. It is not useful in all countries

2. It is discouraging due to corruption
