Mass and volume relationship of reactions 2

Mass and volume relationship of reactions 2

Performance objectives

Students should be able to:

  1. Define length, mass, and volume and state their S.I units
  2. Solve problems involving reacting mass and volume in a chemical reaction

Mass and volume relationship

Mass is a measure of the amount of matter in a substance or an object. The basic SI unit for mass is the kilogram (kg), but smaller masses may be measured in grams (g). To measure mass, you would use a balance. In the lab, mass may be measured with a triple beam balance or an electronic balance.

Mass is commonly confused with weight. The two are closely related, but they measure different things. Whereas mass.... View More
