Pre-colonial or folk traditional dances and social dances

Dance is the movement of the body to a musical rhythm. It may involve only one person, group of people; it may be an informal play, part of a professional performance etc.

This movement has a symbolic value acknowledge as dance by performers within a particular tribe.

Rhythm is the basis of music and dance. Dances generally have a characteristic tempo and rhythmic pattern. Dancing is a major source of entertainment in traditional Nigerian society.
