Meaning of youth empowerment

Youth empowerment is the process of making young people gain the ability and authority to make decisions and implement changes in their own lives and the lives of others.

It also deals with the process of encouraging youths to do great things for themselves and also for society.

For example, students should be allowed to take up vacation jobs which will help them manage their time and money.

The concept of Youth Empowerment involves the following:

1. Helping youth identify, utilize and maximize their potentials.

2. Helping the youth to develop confidence and self-identity.

3. Encouraging youth to grow together in accountability.

4. Imbibing in youth, the eagerness to create a change.

5. Trust in the competence of youth and the authenticity of their insights.
