1. Over-ambition of politicians: Many politicians are over-ambitious and want to be in the office at all cost.

2. Frustration: Some politicians who have been repeatedly defeated at the polls may try to win elections through unlawful means.

3. Poverty: In situations of poverty, some people see elections periods as seasons to make quick money.
