Classification of Fish based on Habitat

Habitat refers to the living environment of an organism. Fishes live in water and there are three kinds of water habitat in which fishes live and these are:

1. Freshwater fish: These are fishes that are capable of living and reproducing in water free of salt. Such water includes rivers, artificial or natural ponds, lakes swamps, springs and streams. Examples of such fish includes tilapia(St Peter's fish), electric fish, moonfish, catfish etc.
