History of football in Nigeria

Football is one of the oldest sports. Its origin is not very clear. Countries, such as England, Ireland and Italy have claimed the origin. In 1904, the Fèdèration Internationale de Football Association or International Football Association (FIFA) was formed. Football must have been introduced to Nigeria through our early contacts with British missionaries and colonial adventurers in the early twentieth century.
