1. The main aim of neighbourhood security is to reduce crime in the neighbourhood by improving security, increasing vigilance, creating and maintaining a caring community and reducing opportunities for crime by increasing crime prevention awareness.

2. Protecting the neighbourhood from theft.

3. Safeguards the lives of people and their properties.

4. To improve police or community liaison by providing effective communications through neighbourhood watch. 

5. To monitor crime performance and community confidence.

6. To hear and monitor complaints from victims of crime.
