Types of constituted authority

1. Traditional constituted authority: This is authority based on customs and traditions of people. Examples of traditional authority in Nigeria are Alaafin of Oyo, Ooni of Ife, Sultan of Sokoto, Obi of Onitsha etc.

Functions of traditionally constituted authority

a. Traditional authority helps the local government to maintain law and order in local communities.

b. They help the government to educate their people on the need for their maximum cooperation with the government.
