- Group the resources based on their source.
- Explain the importance of these resources to societal and self-development
Content
Animal resources
Animal resources are products obtained from animals that have several personal and economic values. Some of these resources are:
- Hide and skin
Hide and skin products obtained from animals are treated for human use. They are used in making bags, leathers, belts etc. the skin is usually from smaller animals such as cows, goats, dogs etc. while the hides is gotten from bigger animals such as cows, bulls, horses, etc.
- Bones
Bones of animals are used to produce glues, plates combs, etc.
- Food
Some of the foods we eat are gotten from animals Examples of the food include milk, egg, cheese, etc. and these foods provide us with protein, vitamins, irons, zinc, vitamins, etc.
- Medicines
Liver oil and liver extract are obtained from the liver of fishes and they are used to produce several medicines.
- Wool
This is a fine wavy textile used for knitting and making clothes.it is obtained from furs of animals such as goats, sheep, rams, etc.
- Feather and shell
They are mostly used for decorations.
- Horns and tusks
They are mostly found in mammals and they are used for making musical instruments and decorations.
Importance of plant and animal resources to societal and self-development
Plants and animals form the core of what comes to mind when we think about the “environment.” Plants are the fabric that covers the soil. They hold the soil in place to reduce erosion and improve water quality.
As plants offer us food and air that we are able to breathe, plants have a huge economic significance. however, plants provide us with fruits and vegetables that we consume and that we sell/resell to our community, making a very big significance economically, also plants are such an important aliment to animals, as well we consume and use them to work for us, for example, the horse, we use it to carry heavy things for us, even transportation, making our lives easier and bring economic goods to our society. Animals both large and small are a critical component of our environment. Animals as well are a big source of economic wealth due to the fact we eat them and use them as public services, as transportation and carry on sources.
